The Missing Boy Of The Mountains
01:21
The
lovely sounds of the birds chirping, fresh water trickling down the quiet
mountain side. The pristine beauty of nature is captured the most in one
place. “HIMACHAL PRADESH''.
The land is filled with friendly faces of people who are cheery and
well-mannered. The hills of this amazing land were filled with laughter and
happiness. But then, sorrow engulfed them. In 1995, the Pan-chen-lama of Tibet
was kidnapped by the Chinese. The Chinese had taken over Tibet in the early
days. It all started in 1995.The Dalai-lama was ready to choose the next
Pan-chen-lama. Things were very bad in Tibet. So, he chose to go to India with
his followers. The journey was nowhere near easy. The only hurdle was the great
Himalayan Mountain.
The journey was harsh and many people could not make it through. Finally, when
the Dalai-lama entered the land of India, he chose to settle there.
The Dalai-lama began his quest to choose a new Pan-chen-lama .He came down to
four boys. He wrote each of their names on a strip of paper and rolled them
into equal amounts of dough and put them into a bowl. Then he spun the bowl
around and around until a piece fell out. He made a mark on the piece and
started to spin them again. This time a piece fell out, and it was the same
piece which came out the first time. It was decided. The new Pan-chen-lama was
chosen.
As and when the Chinese found out, they were afraid that the Tibetans would
regain their dignity. On the other hand, the present Pan-chen-lama decided to
stay back at Tibet. He was put into the jail of Tibet by the Chinese.
Later when he was released, he ordered a large prayer gathering at a temple in
Tibet. A monstrous amount of people had gathered to pray. The Pan-chen-lama did
not arrive at the gathering as he had died of a heart attack. Many people swore
that it was the Chinese who had done this.
The Dalai-lama was notified and was very much aware that he had to tell his
people who the new Pan-chen-lama was. After telling the boy's parents , they
held a small prayer for him. The boy was only 6 years old at that time. Merely
old enough to look after an entire country! When the Chinese heard of this
news, they transformed into cowards. The people who had conquered an entire
nation, had become scared. There plan was foolish. But unfortunately, it
worked.
During a Tibetan festival, the Chinese kidnapped the little boy and his
parents. Alas, this incident took everyone by surprise. Believe it or not, the
Pan-chen-lama who was kidnapped in ‘95 is still missing.
The Chinese acted as though nothing had ever happened. Suddenly, the
breathtaking culture of peace-of-mind had suddenly become China's.
People still think to themselves," where is the Pan-chen-lam?" But
never get an answer. The Chinese say that he is in good health and so is his
family. Being kept away like refugee was sure it hurt him. Its 2013 now! He
must be 23 years now! During my visit to Himachal, I learned how this boy
struggled ,not only that, I learned how
Tibet struggled.
If they keep fighting, they can be free again!
.........and
I really hope it happens!
